New York is Book Country

Just in case the printed word becomes extinct in our electronic age, the theme of this year's New York publishing festival is 'A book, e-book, any book'. As usual, the event involves more than 150 events throughout the five boroughs designed to promote reading and a love of literature, culminating on September 24 in a street fair on Fifth Avenue between 48th and 57th Streets. Other highlights include a New Technology tent to showcase the dreaded innovations, games for kids at public libraries and a literary brunch at the Waldorf-Astoria.
