What's New?
A new internet café-cum-print shop-cum-advertising agency has moved into what over the years has served as a Jewish meeting house, a cinema and a discount carpet shop. With its original Bauhaus lines restored, but unfortunately rendered in screaming yellow, What's New? offers the cheapest internet access in town (AS30 per hour) in a pleasantly roomy space with an air of NY loft. Friendly staff will advise in a variety of languages and serve bottles of ice-cold Beck's, a rarity in these parts. Within easy reach of the Gürtel nightspots, it is ideal for sorting out any unfinished e-business.

La Kasbah
Morroccan fever hits Hong Kong at this new restaurant-cum-bar on the edge of the burgeoning SoHo district. The décor comes straight from Marrakech, but it there are broader flavours on the menu with tastes from Morocco, Egypt, Turkey and Algeria. Within two days of opening it had also established a reputation as a fairly wild place for late night dancing. Belly dancing, to accompany the North African sounds, is promised soon.
